The Alvis Saladin is used by the British Geological Survey (BGS) primarily for geological mapping and surveying purposes. Its mobility and off-road capabilities make it well-suited for navigating rough terrains and accessing remote locations where geological data needs to be collected. The vehicle is equipped with specialized equipment and tools to assist geologists in their fieldwork, allowing them to conduct surveys, take samples, and gather data more efficiently. Overall, the Alvis Saladin plays a crucial role in supporting the BGS in their geological research and mapping activities. **

Camshaft adjustment refers to the ability to alter the timing of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft in an engine. This adjustment can be made either mechanically or electronically and is used to optimize engine performance and fuel efficiency. By adjusting the camshaft timing, the engine can achieve better power delivery, improved fuel economy, and reduced emissions. This adjustment is often used in variable valve timing systems to optimize engine performance across different operating conditions. **
